The digital entrance ofthe aesthetic hotel
DDD Hotel is a collective hotel that includes guest rooms and cultural facilities such as an art gallery, kitchen space, cafe, and bar. It was created by fully renovating a business hotel that had been in business for over 30 years. We designed and developed the website as the first touchpoint for communication in this space that suggests a new urban lifestyle with a minimalist aesthetic.
OVERVIEW
To express their idea of “Experience the minimal but fine quality life, updating and restarting itself” we were inspired by art history, books, magazines, and other printed materials. We tried to make the design so that people could feel the hotel's attractiveness as if they were quietly reading an art magazine. We based the design on a simplified structure, with photographs as the main focus and not much explanation. Also, we gave a lot of attention to the design details, such as the kerning adjustment of each letter as if it were a printed design.
In terms of development, we used GSAP and three.js. GSAP loads three kinds of plug-ins, DrawSVGPlugin, CustomEase, and ScrollToPlugin, to enhance the precision of detailed animation. We challenged the integration of graphical expressions and digital expressions, such as page transitions that give the feeling of turning a page.
